This Sunday was a special one at St. Mark’s! We celebrated the missions of our church around the world. Sister Ruth Ellen Rebelein, a former ELCA missionary to Papua New Guinea, was our guest preacher. She also presented information about her time teaching at a seminary in PNG following worship. She brought many items with her to illustrate her life there. Lutheran World Relief Coffee Project coffees and teas were also available for sale. Children and adults tied quilts for LWR, and made tie dyed squares for another quilt that will be made and tied at our September 8th “God’s Work. Our Hands” celebration. The festivities ended with a buffet of foods from around the world, including our companion synods in Argentina and Tanzania, as well as Papua New Guinea. Check out these pictures:
